Every treatment plan is individualised based on objective data from your assessment. Learn more about our Physiotherapy services.
Initial consultations are 45-60 minutes to allow for comprehensive assessment. Follow-up appointments range from 30-60 minutes, depending on your treatment needs. We allocate sufficient time to address your concerns without rushing.

No, you don't need a referral to book physiotherapy in Australia. You can book directly with us. However, if you have a GP referral under the Medicare Chronic Disease Management (CDM) plan, you may be eligible for Medicare rebates.
The actual VO2 max test takes anywhere from 8-40 minutes of progressive exercise until you reach maximum effort. Including equipment setup, warm-up, and results discussion, plan for a 60-minute appointment. You'll receive your full report with training zones within 48 hours.
No, VO2 max testing is appropriate for all fitness levels. The test is progressive and stops when you reach your maximum capacity—whether you're a beginner or elite athlete. We modify the protocol based on your current fitness and goals. The test simply measures where you are now so you can train smarter.
Lactate threshold testing identifies the exercise intensities at which lactate begins to accumulate in your blood. We measure both LT1 (aerobic threshold) and LT2 (anaerobic threshold) to provide precise training zones. It includes:
- Blood lactate sampling at progressive intensities
- LT1 and LT2 identification
- Heart rate and pace/power zone recommendations
- Detailed report within 48 hours
This is often combined with VO2 max testing for comprehensive performance assessment.
RMR testing measures how many calories your body burns at rest. This data is essential for weight management, nutrition planning, body composition goals, and understanding your metabolism. It includes:
- 20-minute metabolic measurement
- Detailed report with daily calorie needs
We recommend retesting every 12-16 weeks if you're actively training. This allows enough time to see measurable improvements from your training program and adjust your zones as your fitness improves. Elite athletes may test more frequently (every 8-12 weeks) during key training phases.
Our Health Performance Protocols are comprehensive testing packages designed for specific sports and goals. Each protocol provides key data insights to inform your training and health strategies. Examples include:
- Runner Protocol: VO2 max, lactate threshold, running gait analysis
- Strength Athlete Protocol: Force plate testing, strength assessment, movement screening
- Longevity Protocol: VO2 max, RMR, body composition, strength testing
Although each protocol has a base structure, we individualise testing based on your specific goals and current fitness level.
No! You can pick and choose the tests most relevant to you. The protocols are designed as comprehensive packages based on our GymTherapy OS framework, but we understand not everyone needs every test. You can revisit additional protocol testing at any time in the future.
Absolutely! Book an initial testing consultation and complete our medical questionnaire detailing your goals. We'll design an individualised testing protocol to help you achieve your specific objectives. We work with athletes and active individuals across all sports and activities in Brisbane.
Yes. Our physiotherapists can conduct movement screening, strength testing, and biomechanical analysis to identify injury risk factors or movement limitations. This is often integrated into physiotherapy consultations or as part of return-to-sport protocols. Contact us to discuss your specific needs.
