Whether you are dealing with acute lower back pain, stiffness, and pain with everyday activities, or have chronic neck pain, GymTherapy is here to help you recover, rehabilitate, and achieve your health and performance goals.

Spinal pain, often in the lower back or the upper back/neck, can originate from various structures in the spine, including bones, discs, nerves, ligaments, and muscles. It is a common condition, with lower back pain one of the most recurrent conditions to affect people, and a rise in the use of digital/screen technologies contributing to neck pain. Spinal pain can range from mild discomfort to severe pain with effective treatment the key to ensure you recovery from your injury and/or pain and get back to achieving your health and performance goals.

Our spinal pain relief and management services include a range of evidence-based assessments, treatments, and techniques designed to address your specific condition:

1. In-Depth Comprehensive Assessment

A thorough assessment to determine the cause and root of your spinal pain/injury, is the first step in designing a personalised treatment plan.

2. Manual Therapy & Soft Tissue Techniques

A variety of techniques may be used to reduce initial pain and target specific goals such as reducing muscle tension and increasing joint range of motion and mobility. Learn more about our Treatment & Therapy

3. Individual Rehabilitation Program

A tailored exercise and mobility program is then implemented to target areas of weakness and address deficits such as core stability, strength, and motor control, that are contributing to your pain.

4. Re-assessments & Treatment

Following your initial consultation, a plan is developed in collaboration with you including re-assessment follow-up consultations and appropriate treatment to continue your rehabilitation journey.

5. Support & Guidance

Throughout the process, continuous support and guidance is provided to ensure you achieve your health and performance goals. We educate you throughout your rehabilitation journey on injury prevention strategies to minimise the risk of future injury and optimise performance.

  • Disc Herniation & Injury: Injury to the disc that sits between your vertebrae. Commonly seen in the lower back at L4 or L5 level or in the cervical spine. Can vary in extent - from disc compression to disc herniation.

  • Muscle Strains: Common in those who perform lifting, bending, and twisting actions or in sports such as rowing and weight-lifting.

  • Nerve Entrapment: Occurs when irritation and/or inflammation occurs either at the nerve root or distal to this. Commonly, also called Sciatica in the lower back.

  • Osteoarthritis: Degeneration of the joints and cartilage, commonly the lower back or parts of the neck. Can occur at the facet joints and the cartilage of the spinal joints.

  • Laminectomy: A type of surgery performed whereby a section of the lamina (section of vertebrae) is removed to treat certain conditions such as spinal stenosis and disc herniation.

  • Whiplash: A type of neck injury that occurs when sudden acceleration/deceleration and/or rotational forces are acted upon the neck. Common in those who are involved in motor vehicle accidents or those participating in contact sports such as rugby and boxing.

  • Neck Pain: Can either occur suddenly or over a long period of time. This may be related to posture, sleeping position/pillows, and/or workplace set-up.

Common in adolescents going through growth and maturation and those who participate in long-duration activities such as marathons and triathlons.
